Here's what's been going on lately with the Arndt's:
1. We went on our very first camping trip together at Arches National Park last month. It was very fun, and we hiked a lot! It was also nice to get to 75 degree weather!
2. Jon might get a promotion at work, which is really exciting because he isn’t getting the best pay right now. We could definitely use the extra $1.50 an hour if he gets the promotion. Also, we’re praying he gets the Security Officer of the Quarter bonus because he deserves it! Plus, it’d be nice to have an extra $100.
3. Jon and I were originally planning on going back to school this summer, but we have postponed that until this fall because the Pell Grant won’t be large enough to pay anywhere close to tuition. Plus, it will give us some time to pay off debt and save up money for when Jon won’t be able to have a full time job any longer (I don’t look forward to those 3 semesters).
4. I’ve started to look for a job again (not that I tried that hard before). I know I really need to look for one now though, especially since I’ll have to be the one supporting us for 3 out of the 5 semesters Jon has left in school. Hopefully something will turn up. I’ll just keep praying something works out. I have applied to a Head Start Preschool, and I hope with all my experience with children and being a preschool aide in the past will help me out to get this job. I’m also going to finish school in Early Childhood Education (no longer Elementary Education- long story), so I think they would love to hear that.
5. I’ve been running with my neighbor, Tara, and today we reached our goal of doing a 5K in under 40 minutes. Now I know that that is not very fast, but we couldn’t run 3 minutes without dying about two months ago. It is a big accomplishment for us. We are planning to continue running and trying to stay in shape. Hopefully, we’ll be able to do a 5K under 36 minutes that would be amazing!
6. We are planning on finally starting our food storage. After many years of hearing how important it is, we really just need to do this. Our Bishop has been very big on this topic lately because you never know when you might not have the money to purchase food especially during these tough economical times.
7. I have decided to start doing some Family History. I figured that a lot has already been done on my side of the family, so I want to start up Jon’s side. I know this is something that I need to be doing, and I know that it will bring many great blessings to our family.
In all, we are doing great! We're looking forward to the future, and we both can't wait until Jon is done with school!
