I can't believe my baby girl is 3 months already! She is finally out of the "fourth trimester."
(Clearly, I wrote ^that^ BEFORE the last two weeks.)
I'll continue with Madeline's third month of life before I go onto what the last two weeks have been like...
Madeline had her two month appointment on the 16th of January. She got her shots, and she did pretty well. Of course she cried, but it didn't last long. Luckily, I couldn't see her face. Jon could and, apparently, thought it was funny. So sad! She calmed down in my arms, and I fed her a bit and she was fine. The next day, we left for San Diego to visit with my family! She did really well on the car ride down there (at least for the first 8 hours... the last 3 were a bit of a struggle but not too horrible). My brother and grandma both got to meet Maddie (although, my brother didn't really seem to care). My grandma loved seeing Maddie every day though. It was fun to see her interact with Maddie. My mom also watched Maddie one day, so Jon and I could go see a movie! It was so nice to get out, just the two of us. She also watched her whenever we went to Target or to get food. Jon and I took Maddie to the beach one day; she was asleep when we first got there, but she seemed to enjoy it when she woke up. After playing with Dad and staring at the waves, I fed her, and she easily went right back to sleep. I think it's safe to say that she loves the beach just as much as her parents do! The sound of the waves crashing and the cool breeze made it perfect for napping. The three of us also went on walks outside when it wasn't rainy. It was perfect weather almost the whole time (60-75 degrees = perfection). I loved it. And every time Jon comes to San Diego during the winter season, he loves it more and more too. It is the perfect climate. I think SD is growing on him!!! We also took Maddie to church for the first time while we were there since flu season doesn't get quite as bad or last as long as it does in Utah. We eventually decided to head back to Provo on the 31st of January since we forgot the checkbook to mail our landlord rent for February.
I don't know if there was anything significant that happened the next two weeks. But Maddie was progressively sleeping less and less at night (the first stretch went from 9/10 PM-ish to 5/6 AM-ish for a while, then it went until 3/4 AM-ish). No fun!!!
OH, I do remember one thing. Maddie giggled for the first time! It was so cute! She hasn't done it much since, but it was so funny when she did it. Luckily, we got a video, but we were too late to get the real good ones.
A funny thing that happened early one morning... I was feeding Maddie when she woke up for her first night feeding. She was done and going back to sleep. Then she pooped! Ugh. I wasn't happy because she never dirties her diaper in the middle of the night. It's always just wet. She saves the poops for the day time. Well, I waited a bit before changing her diaper. Then I took her to the changing table and just as I was about to put her new diaper on, she pooped A LOT! Explosively. It went across the room and hit the pillow I had on the glider. Luckily, that pillow was there, otherwise, my glider would have been ruined. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at this point because I was SO ANNOYED already that she dirtied her diaper (plus, tired)... then she does THAT. More work for Mom to clean up. I woke up Jon with my laughing, and he came in and helped clean up the mess. We just couldn't believe the distance she got on that. Haha. Sorry, but it is kind of disgusting and funny at the same time.
Anyways, that pretty much sums up Maddie's third month. I'll make a separate post for the not-so-wonderful trip just Maddie and I took to San Diego. Here's some pictures though:
(I'll try to add pictures when I can. Life has been crazy lately.)
